Barry didn’t just grow into alcohol law… he helped shape how it’s practiced. For more than 20 years, he’s been the go-to advisor for wineries, distilleries, importers, and national hospitality groups—including restaurants, bars, clubs, hotels, and off-sale retailers—offering sharp legal strategy with a clear, business-minded approach. Clients come to Barry for answers but stay for his steady presence and deep understanding of the industry. He has negotiated nearly every type of alcohol-related agreement, from distribution and co-packing to private label and marketing. Whether guiding a startup or supporting a legacy brand, he brings the same thoughtful, practical perspective. He also helps clients navigate complex labeling, advertising, and trademark requirements, with hundreds of trademark registrations to his name. When it’s time to launch a campaign, structure a sweepstakes, or plan a multi-state promotion, Barry helps businesses get it right and keeps things moving. And when regulatory issues arise, his litigation background gives him an edge in handling matters before the California ABC and the TTB. He serves on the U.S. board of the International Wine Law Association and speaks regularly on branding, consumer protection, and how to stay compliant while still standing out. Outside of work, Barry enjoys tackling home renovation and woodworking projects, hitting the hiking trails, and spending time on, or dreaming of Maui.
